MA in Educational Studies with Teaching College English Concentration

The Master of Arts degree in Educational Studies with Concentration on Teaching College English is an advanced flexible master's program for licensed teachers who want to advance their curricular and content knowledge. This flexible master's program will give you the specialized instruction you need to advance your career as an English Teacher. This credentialing program meets the needs of educators who seek a credential for teaching college English in Minnesota high schools. Our program is designed for high school teachers whose schools offer college credit to high school students through the "College in the Schools" program.

Created in consultation with St. Paul Public Schools, the University of St. Thomas credentialing program meets the Higher Learning Commission’s requirements for teaching college English in Minnesota high schools. According to HLC requirements, teachers who deliver these courses must have 18 credit hours of graduate coursework in English. We have designed this program to meet the needs of high school teachers by emphasizing multicultural literatures and English pedagogy. We also offer a variety of extracurricular activities designed to promote collaboration and exchange between teachers enrolled in the program.‌

The blended delivery model maximizes flexibility by combining online and face-to-face learning models, providing students an innovative learning opportunity that works with even the busiest of schedules.
