Health Education and Physical Education
|Physical Education and Health Education||
Health Education (5-12) and Physical Education (K-12) are now offered in a combined major format. Teachers in health education help learners (5-12) develop psychomotor skills, understand how the human body works, and build and maintain good health overall. In addition, teachers in health encourage healthy behaviors in children and youth who may feel invincible, while helping their learners see their responsibility in the choices they make. Physical Education instructors in grades K-12 learn the basic skills of activities that can lead to physical fitness throughout their lives. In addition, these teachers help students understand the value of physical activity and fitness as an element of overall health management.
